Blegging for a good cause (and a chance for you to win!)

Fellow Bloggers! If you could take a moment to direct any readers of your blogs to this post (since I don't have a lot of my own) and offer them an opportunity to make a donation and get a chance at the Lagniappe gift certificate, that would be greatly appreciated.

In the mid-90s my grandfather passed away after his battle with Lymphoma. At the time, his case was so baffling to doctors it was actually a topic of discussion at medical conferences.

10 years later my step-father was also diagnosed with Lymphoma. But a recent stem-cell transplant has left him cancer-free. The advances in medical science have been great, and are in no small part thanks to the efforts of organizations like the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

My family and I will be walking in this year's Light the Night Walk to raise funds for all the great things The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society does. So I'm reaching out to everyone and anyone to make a pledge towards this worthwhile cause.

While any amount helps and is greatly appreciated, the owners of Lagniappe Brasserie in New Berlin, WI, considered one of Milwaukee's Top 30 Restaurants by the late Dennis Getto, graciously donated a $50 gift certificate towards my fundraising efforts. For every $5 you donate, you'll get a chance at winning this gift certificate towards a great meal at this fantastic restaurant! And since this drawing is restricted only to donors to my team, your odds of winning are pretty good!

You can go here to make your pledge online. Thanks ahead of time for any support you can give!

"No other person may conduct a raffle in this state."

Is this raffle legal?

Quite honestly, I have no idea. I've changed the word "raffle" to "drawing," which is a recommended fundraising activity in the team captain documents provided by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Now that that's cleared up, John, can I look forward to your pledge?
