For the record, I think the "birthers" out there are crazy bunch. End of that.
But something about referring to them as "birfers" kept bugging me.
Then I realized what it was.
Using the f sound in place of the soft th sound in spoken English is characteristic of African-American Vernacular English (AAVE).
Are people using the "birfer" term mocking African-Americans?
Are they subconsciously racist?
I anticipate back-bending and apologies are forthcoming.

It's more of a Cockney thing. I must hate white people.
That, or the way a child would say it, since the birfers seem to all act about 6 years old.
